season, with its clear air and good views, is popular among hikers. The
sea of
fog in the valley - the ALPENBLICK, and the mountains are clearly
visible. ![]() All in all, the Gastein Valley between Dorfgastein and Sportgastein offers a variety of hikes or mountain climbs, short or long, simple or more challenging. In addition, a 120 km long path network through the entire valley with 11 signposted paths for hiking, running, and walking was built. |
Those who
want to explore other regions can drive or take a bus trip offered in
Gastein
to many worthwhile sites. Within one hour, you can reach Salzburg, the
salt mines
in Hallein, the ice caves in Werfen, Zell am See, Kaprun or also --
after
loading your car on a train to travel through the Tauern Rail Tunnel --
the
lakes in Carinthia. Popular
destinations
are the Salzkammergut and the trip to the Grossglockner
(Austria’s highest mountain)
or into the
dolomites.
