An ideal starting point for hikes and excursions

Besides the many relaxation, leisure and wellness offerings that the panorama Hotel ALPENBLICK offers you, the hotel’s height of 1060 m is also an ideal starting point for numerous different activities. Walks and hikes – on level promenades or up the mountain – are possible directly from the hotel. The town bus stops right in front of the hotel and can take you to other points of departure. You can reach the centre of Bad Gastein in 10 minutes by walking. The Graukogel lift (a 5-minute walk away) takes you to a height of 2000 m and makes nice mountain hikes and climbs from the mountain station easier.

Those who like comfort can ride in the horse-drawn carriage. At any rate, travelling this way brings you to a height of 1200 m.

The fall season, with its clear air and good views, is popular among hikers. The sea of fog in the valley - the ALPENBLICK, and the mountains are clearly visible.

All in all, the Gastein Valley between Dorfgastein and Sportgastein offers a variety of hikes or mountain climbs, short or long, simple or more challenging. In addition, a 120 km long path network through the entire valley with 11 signposted paths for hiking, running, and walking was built.
Those who want to explore other regions can drive or take a bus trip offered in Gastein to many worthwhile sites. Within one hour, you can reach Salzburg, the salt mines in Hallein, the ice caves in Werfen, Zell am See, Kaprun or also -- after loading your car on a train to travel through the Tauern Rail Tunnel -- the lakes in Carinthia.  Popular destinations are the Salzkammergut and the trip to the Grossglockner (Austria’s highest mountain) or into the dolomites.
